A song off my New Vintage album that comes across well live is “All Mine.” On my original songs, I use the same drums as on the studio version. I miss the piano in the studio version though and use guitar on the chorus to make the rhythm pop. I usually do a single, extended guitar solo instead of two short ones live. Yes, I’m channeling Buddy Guy and heavily borrowing the Chicago blues sound for the solo. St. Louis blues is a mix of Chicago, Memphis, and other styles–as to be expected from my Gateway City.
“All Mine” tells a love story of persuasion. The flirtations have a purpose, a meaning. When you make the argument to someone and the question of ‘are you mine’ becomes rhetorical. You know the answer. The song develops the plot through the verses and lets the chorus punctuate a slyly worded conclusion, “I just thought you outta know.” This video was recorded at a cool burger place in Perryville, MO called Mary Jane Burgers And Brew on October 23, 2018.
