Twitter has been a good portal for musical networking. That’s how I encountered On Song International. Through their Facebook Group, I met some artists and blogged the amazing Surianne and found a great little group for musicians helping musicians…as well as their Facebook Page with an impressive reach.
A few weeks ago, Surianne contacted me about sharing my songwriting process and giving a little shout-out to On Song International. I got right on the tasks. With the Song-A-Week group in which this is my third year participating, I’ve written over 110 songs in the last couple years and always work ahead. Writing in that volume allows you to notice your creative trends and get insight into your process. In preparing the information for On Song International, I had the opportunity to update my thoughts on myself and to notice my own growth. Fairly, I should add, just because you creatively grow does not mean you’re “good” or whatever that means. My ego is, as best as I’m able, checked at the door.
Here are the two videos. The first features Surianne as host. The second is pure shout-out. Though I thought about what to say in advance, I went into “Kyle mode” and used my best extemporaneous style to just talk and be me.
Please Subscribe to On Song International as they are a great supporter of independent music. Please feel invited to smash that Like button. Also, consider liking their FB page. You’ll be sure to find some new sounds.
